Please join us to celebrate the retirement of Dr. George Hadjisophocleous. George has been a central figure in fire safety in Ottawa for the last 30 years and has made a lasting impact in our industry. He has been a strong proponent of the SFPE NCR, being a past president and a significant personal donor over the years.

George started his career in M59 at the National Research Council as a research officer and progressed to become a Senior Research Officer and Group Leader. During this time he was also an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Brunswick. In 2001, he moved to Carleton University where he became the NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Fire Safety Engineering and was instrumental in starting the Fire Safety Engineering graduate program. This program has resulted in remarkable growth of fire safety engineering in Canada, by producing top caliber students that now work all over the world. He was regularly successful in securing significant amounts of funding, e.g., for innovative (and expensive) testing or for a major research facility expansion. Understandably, George has received numerous academic and professional accolades throughout his influential career. George is now a proud grandfather and is excited to take a break from his busy career to spend more time with his family.

This is a cocktail event; business casual recommended. Drinks and food will be available for purchase. A few short speeches will be given at 6:30 pm.

Please sign our virtual card to congratulate George on his retirement using this online form by Friday June 24.
