We will have a guest technical presentation, followed by a panel discussion, and finishing with the SFPE-NCR Chapter AGM.

GUEST PRESENTATION:
Dr. Kashef is the Director, Research and Development of Advanced Construction Practices and Fire Safety. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering and has more than 30 years research and practical experience. His expertise involves applying numerical and experimental techniques in a wide range of engineering applications including fire risk analysis, fire dynamics, tenability, heat transfer and smoke transport. He has authored and co-authored more than 200 publications. He served as an elected member on the Research Administration Committee (RAC) of The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), the past chair of the ASHRAE Technical Committee (TC) 5.6 “Fire and Smoke Control”, and the past chair of the research sub-program of ASHRAE TC 5.9, “Enclosed Vehicular Facilities”. Dr. Kashef is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario, a member of the Underwriters Laboratories of Canada (ULC) Advisory Council, the International Forum of the Fire Directors, the North American Fire Testing Labs, the World Road Association (PIARC) “Road Tunnels Operations” and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) TC 502 “Standard for Road Tunnels, Bridges, and Other Limited Access Highways”.
As a leader in Fire Safety research in Canada and internationally, Dr. Kashef will present on current and future research activities of the Fire Safety Group at NRC in relation to emerging Fire Safety and Protection Engineering topics in Canada: impact of climate change on built environment fire safety, regulatory framework, de-risking of innovative green-technologies and solutions, and digital transformation in fire safety.
